Greek Vases

Much of what we know about ancient Greek life is from pictures painted on vases. The period of Golden Greek culture produced fine vases that portray every aspect of everyday life as well as historical and religious events.

The Parthenon

Architects of Classical Greece built according to strict mathematical rules to give their public buildings a feeling of balance, simplicity, and elegance. They constructed magnificent public buildings and monuments. One of the most famous is the Parthenon.

Musical Instruments

The Ancient Greeks enjoyed music at most events. The kithara was a stringed wooden instrument similar to a lyre. The timpanon was an early version of the tambourine. The turtle-shell harp is portrayed often, played by men and women.
